Why we choose to grow steadily

I'm Leo Lu (Lu Yi), the second generation of a knitwear family business in Dongguan, China. I joined this industry after university with one belief shaped by my family's experience: steady progress matters more than quick growth.

People often ask why I repeat the same idea: we can move a little more slowly, but we must move with confidence. It is not a slogan. It is the lesson that has stayed with me throughout my life in clothing.

What I learned growing up in knitwear

My parents have worked in knitwear for 26 years. I grew up around the rhythm of the industry: busy seasons, difficult markets, sample approvals, production pressure, and the quiet work required to deliver a garment properly. I have seen periods of strong growth, and I have seen how quickly conditions can change.

I have also watched businesses expand too fast, or compete only on price, only to lose the quality, margin, or relationships that made them viable. Our own family business has experienced both highs and setbacks. Those experiences made one point clear to me: a company's real strength is not how fast it runs, but whether it can remain dependable through changing market cycles.

Steady does not mean conservative

For Xiyue Knitwear, growing steadily does not mean thinking small. It means refusing to trade long-term trust for a short-term result. It means starting with the right yarn, being honest about what a construction can achieve, checking quality consistently, and only making commitments that we can fulfil.

In knitwear, those choices are practical. Material selection affects hand feel, recovery, durability, and cost. Gauge and construction affect how a style behaves after finishing. Sampling and production planning need clear communication. We would rather have these conversations early than promise something that cannot be repeated reliably in bulk.

Trust is built one order at a time

I believe growth can take time. Trust cannot be rushed. An order may end, but the way a buyer remembers the quality, communication, and follow-through remains. That is why we want every project, whether it is an in-stock wholesale order or an OEM / ODM development, to begin with a realistic understanding of the product and the work involved.

Ten or twenty years from now, I do not hope customers remember Xiyue only for being large or fast. I hope they remember that every collaboration felt considered, transparent, and dependable. For me, that is what long-term business means.
